Hmm. I couldn't find any petition. I could find a filed to "sign",
but no text which in any way resembled any sort of petition was in
sight anywhere. So where is the text I'm supposed to sign?

1 The source has always been open; no copyright issues.
2 The open source version is supported by the open source community
already. There is no support for the commercial version anymore.
3 It could be included in a GNU/DOS package more easily, knowing that
as open-source it was also free (some open source programs are not
free).

Because it's much more. It is a complete multitasking environment,
much superior to windows in its time (although possibly not any more),
providing multitasking to computers as lowly as a mere 8088 (some
older versions) and X for at least 80286 (and reportedly even 8088 ---
again, only some older versions). If nothing else, it is an important
technological landmark, and I would actually buy it just for that, if
I could find somebody willing to sell...
Of course, I'm looking for a *free and open-source* X Window port for
DOS. That's why I responded ._.,
