We have a DOS based application that runs on a Windows 2000 ADV
server.
* Please do not laugh. It was not my idea. :-) *

Anyway, we ran out of disk space on the E partition and the
application crashed. I have since brought back space on E but the the
DOS application give a SWAP FILE error message. Specifically, it says
"Error reding from swapfile"
and then the application halts.

I looked at the allocation of the swap file, and it sits partially on
C drive, and partially on D drive. Under performance options, it is
optimized for background services. Total Paging size is 896. Amount of
Ram is 393 in system.

Ideas on how to nip the error in the bud? I am going to add some of
the swap file to the E partition and test. Wonder if the E partition
running out of space may have messed up the swap files on C and D.

Please clarify your question:

> is swap is win swap or program swap? (Does the dos app handle swapping?)

I don't know this app is not on my pc, but theoretically is possible for dos
app to have swap it was frequently used.
To claryfy: From where you receive the error message from dos app or from
windows - look also at event viewer do you have any error messages?
