Compared to file associations in File Manager under Windows 3.1, the
procedure under Windows95 is extremely complicated and certainly not
very intuitive or user-friendly:
Open Explorer; goto View | Options | File Types;
Hilite "Text Document" then hit "Edit" button;
Under "Actions", make sure "Open" is *bolded*; if not, toggle on by
hitting "Set Default" button;
Select "Open", then hit "Edit...";
Under "Application used to perform action" browse to your preferred
editor or word processor.
A klunky process, and one you'll have to repeat for each file
association you want to change, *IF* you want to do this under Win95.
Of course, you *could* simply open upen up good ol' File Manager, and do
the association there!!
