Larry you said you would not read win.95.misc and you would no longer post
TEAM BLUE FUD here. I am trying to provide the best information that rumor
can locate about software//hardware for the Intel chips.

New Hot rumor _ IBM cutting support for prior sales of OS/2.

Now I know all the Team Blue WARPERS will jump up and down with various words
of SPIN CONTROL. But you have to admit there is an awful lot of smoke.

@ WARP PPC -> Bang Jan 1996

@ IBM Support for Team OS/2 -> Bang Feb 1996

@ IBM Apitva Line which came with a choice of Win 95 or WARP now
sold with Win 95 only -> Bang Feb 1996

@ IBM Porting all their OS/2 software to Win 95, NT, and UNIX in
crash program. -> Feb 1996

@ 18 FIXPACKS for WARP and still more BUGS ->Feb 1996
See all the new posts in comp.os.os2.bugs

I imagine that IBM will continue support for current OS/2 users who sign a
contract ($$$$) for software updates and hand holding. If IBM give away the
source code ala Linux I may even put it back on one of the machines here for
the fun of it. What puzzles me is that there is clearly a product called
Merlin that is in BETA for select users that was shown to a select few last
week. Could enthusiasm for it been all that poor among the ISV's?

How do you plan to explain the following ALERT found in
comp.os.os2.misc?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: mcre...@one.net (Phillip McReynolds)
Newsgroups: comp.os.os2.misc
Subject: IBM to announce Termination Plan for Warp in 30 to 90 days
Date: Fri, 23 Feb 1996 20:31:42 GMT
Organization: Cintech Tele-Management Systems, Inc.
Lines: 10
Message-ID: <4gl834$n...@news.one.net>

Anyone heard this? A computer retailer I know says that his IBM
representative has just told him to expect an announcement from IBM
which will outline the Termination Plan for Warp in 30 to 90 days. As
I understand it, this does not mean that all support will be dropped
at that time, but that IBM will announce its plans for support.
Apparently, though, this means that no further Intel development is
planned. Any truth to this?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only if the IBM salesman has inside information would there be truth in the
above post. Does IBM really tell anyone in their firm what they are going to
do?
And while Warp is running in circles, Windows 95 has leaped into hyperspace
and left the Warped ship behind.

United Federation Of Planets (Win 95 for Pen on the PADDs, NT Workstation on
the personal stations, and NT Server everywhere else).

hmmmm, well it might have bugs ok,
but does this wining make Windooze95 a well designed good OS?

shitting about other products while yourown is deep shit
is the worst thing you can do. and beleive me, I've worked with
WARP for 2 months, then went back to Win3.11 because I had to
run a program that wouldn;'t start under os2( but hey! does Windooooze
start an OS/2 program? ) and I'm now using win95. Win95 is only
a better gui. underneath its pretty shitty. (see my 'Help! win95
hangs at shutdown' posting :)

and YES I know what I'm talking about, I'm a graduated CS student
with specialisation OS-es and realtime kernels... :)

IBM will come with OS/2 v4 which should be able to patch windows programs
realtime for OS/2 usage.

this is just micro$oft craptalk. win95 is just selling because people
are sick and tired of DOS AND win3.x and the gui looks ok.
