I installed W95 and had many problems, but the most annoying has
been with Procomm Plus for Windows. After many faxes back and
forth, Datastorm suggested I install the 2.11 upgrade, which I did.

That seemed to cure the problem of it crashing. However, that lasted
only about a week, then it started crashing again.

It always happens when I logon to my local freenet, so Datastorm has
suggested it might be them.

Anyway, has anyone else had similar problems with W95 and PC+?

Any fixes?

I've been using Procomm Plus for Windows 2.11 under WIN95 for 3 months
without any problems. The only thing I would suggest is totally wiping
PC+ from your system and re installing it to see what happens. Just
make sure to back up the various directories first.

The 3.0 upgrade should be released soon, maybe that will cure your
problem.

I'm also running PC+2.0 & W95. I did find out the hard way that
for some unaccountable reason, Microsoft File Transfer has to be on
the Task bar, otherwise PC won't load completely (the PC logo doesn't
show up, and it hangs).

I've had similar pronlems with pcplus2.1. It usualy runs fine, but on
3 seperate occasiions it kept crashing. Each time I had to reinstall
the software. I also found on my system that if you don't close
EVERYTHING and run the install from the start menu's run command, it
won't install correctly.

Here is the bottom line. It is a 16 bit program and it is not Windows 95
communication aware. It does not work well with Windows 95 because it is not
using the Win95 comm architecture. I too had many GPF's. Not only that, it
takes control of the COM port. I am now using Symantec/Delrina's Commsuite
which is made for Windows 95, uses the Windows 95 dialer and modem lights,
Exchange, and let's me dial in PPP while another port is still open with fax
or data.

The next version of Procomm will not be 32bit either, so don't even waste
your money on it. Look for alternatives or wait for the 32 bit version. Me?
I've given up waiting for them already. After spending $200 US on them,
Datastorm just plain pisses me off. Comsuite for Windows 95 only cost me $79
US (Upgrade from Winfax PRO 3.0) and includes Winfax 7.0, Wincom Pro 7.0 and
Cyberjack 7.0. $99 US non-upgrade. Works fine for me. Same features.

Bud,

I also have PC+ and running WIN95. The only thing I use PC+ for is for
connection to my Server Provider. I use ZModem to retrieve data and
that's about the extent of my use for PC+. The only problems that I have had
is once I have connected then DCd from a Server and then try to connect
to a different Server I get coded garbage. So I have to close-out PC+ then
Open it back up then all works well. It has never "crashed" on me. Sorry I
couldn't help, but thought I'd tell you my experience with ProComm+.
