Hi.

Does anyone know if it is possible when using Outlook as your mailer to
just upload a copy of mail and leave the original on the server as I do not
want my mail on my home Pc. In exchange there was a tick box but under
outlook I cannot see one. It also appears that Exchange is required as well
as Outlook for Mail and Fax???.

The other question is I have installed Isdn1.1 after reading some articles
that it would stop DUN putting up Connect Box but it is still doing it.

I would appreciate any help on these matters and if possible an Email.

Regards

Pat-

Yes, it is possible with Outlook, but is more complicated to implement.
First, set the service that you are using to use remote mail (it's in the
properties for the service... I can't give you exact details because I'm
replying from a workstation at work and we don't have Office 97 yet, so I'm
doing this from memory).

When you want to retrieve or send mail, go to Tools > Remote Mail >
Connect. This will bring up a wizard that will show you the actions that
it will take and you can deselect any that you don't want. One of the
actions will be to download headers for messages. After the downloads
complete, you can highlight any messages that you want copies of and mark
them to retrieve copies from the Tools > Remote Mail menu. Connect again
and you will get copies of the messages that you marked. The original
messages will still be on the server to retrieve with your "master"
workstation.

I think you're right about Exchange being required. Don't know about
Fax... in my case, the installation detected that I have WinFax Pro
installed, and it added menu selections to Outlook for WinFax.

If I understand your second question, when you set up Remote Mail, Outlook
will no longer automatically dial up when you first run it.

Any questions, send them to drae...@execpc.com.

Outlook is like super Exchange, it uses Exchange. What feature are you
talking about that was in Exchange, all the stuff in Exchange should be
Outlook.

Open your Dial-Up Networking folder and under the Connections menu choose
settings and uncheck the "Show a confirmation dialog after connected" box.

the setting you want is
DialUpNetworking/Connections/Settings and uncheck 'Prompt for info
before dialing'
