if the new machine has a cpu faster than 300 mhz, win95 will
probably
not run...
you need to google for the win95 fast cpu patch...
I did google and only found information for a patch for AMD CPUs
that fixes some intermittant problems for speeds of about 350mhz or
higher.
I have an OEM version of windows 95 running correctly, but slowly
on a machine with a 650CPU. Is there some inherent CPU speed limit
where windows 95 can no longer process programs at faster speeds,
or becomes buggy or inneffecient in some way?
If so, what kind of google search would turn up a patch for ANY
cpu running, say, over 300mhz? The 650mhz one above has an IBM
cpu.
Thanks. I may slowly be driven to buying 98CE for the accumulation
of problems like these; they are still charging premimum prices
for a very old, not supported much, OS with 98 -- or worse - cross
the chasm to 2K (which I have), with no really decent console layer
underneath.
(If one wanted to be fanciful, one could think of many Linux distros as
a windows type user interface (like GNOME) with X-windows and Unix as
the console, command line OS underneath.)
