I checked Driverguide as well as Sandisk's support page, and came up
with nothing.

Try another source - any other manufacturer who made or sold PP card
readers from the same period. Camera manufacturers - who often sold card
readers for them - are a good place to check.
I found when I was researching the floppy based card readers that they
were all using the same internal chip. So my SanDisk driver worked on
other branded floppy readers when people lost their driver disk. One
person said the driver actually worked better than the one supplied by
their manufacturer. You may find the same thing with the PP readers as
well.
Chances are you are looking for a DOS driver - not a driver that
installs under Win 3.x. The SanDisk support for the floppy reader
included a whopper of a DOS driver you had to load through CONFIG.SYS,
and only a tiny applet for Win 3.x that, basically, told you if the
reader was working or not.
I am only lucky to have the DOS driver for the SanDisk floppy based
readers because it was included with the reader when I bought it. The
package even stated there was support for Win 3.x. But within the same
week I bought it I went to the SanDisk sight and there was no mention
anywhere of DOS/WIN 3.x support for any reader. And they don't have (or
don't allow) ftp access so there's no joy to be found there. Just out of
curiosity I e-mailed them about DOS drivers - the documentation promised
a DOS driver that could read cards larger than 32MB - but no reply.

Scarletdown:
Interesting problem. I think Rick's suggestion to try another
manufacturer's driver is a good one. What do you have to loose?
