I recently ran across a site that had win3.1 setup to run from a single
floppy disk. It's so cool. But I havn't found one that does what I am hoping
it can do. I need the basic windows setup, I don't care so much about games,
or clocks, but I do need to be able to have sound configuration to work. and
a cdrom that can be run off of.

I have looked all around and sofar nothing quit gets me what I want. if
anyone has good links for this kind of thing, please let me know.

As far as a CD-ROM drive goes: load your drivers in config.sys and
autoexec.bat (mscdex)

If you can access it in plain DOS, then it should show up in Win3 too

Hi,
Try the Mini-Windows 3.1 floppy here, at the bottom of the page:

http://newdos.yginfo.net/msdos71/index.htm

It took me three days to get it to download but I finally tried it
this morning and it seems to work well. It supports CDROMs, and even
saves your configuration settings back to the disk.

Try this page, dunno how good it is since I haven't had a chance to
try the links yet.

Hi,
The index page is on the wayback machine:

http://web.archive.org/web/20050207135807/http://newdos.yginfo.net/msdos71/index.htm

But I don't know about the links. If you can't otherwise find the 3.1
file, I can look here. I haven't used it lately but it must still be
around.

Hi Alan,

It's nice to see that I'm not the last person in the world who's
still reading this group! :-)

Cheers,
Artur

Hi,

Nice to see you again. Yes I'm still here: it doesn't take very
long to keep up with this group.
