:->I origionally posted this problem on the proper Microsoft Explorer newsgroup
:->but got no response. I suspect it's either not possible or no one was
:->qualified to answer.
:-> My problem is this. I have one account that is with an isp who provides
:->free access to the internet. This provider requires that you must use thier
:->software which places avertising on your desktop. This ISP uses Explorer to
:->log on to it's start page and then Explorer puts this http in the startup
:->file which I have to keep changing when I use my other ISP's. I might add
:->that I only use this "free" ISP when my other 2 fail. My question is this.
:->Can I set Explorer to reset the startup http to reset to my origional
:->startup page, not the free ISP's startup page without having to go in thru
:->the perfs every time?
What I do is launch Internet Explorer from a shortcut in which I added
my home page as a parameter.
I happen to have a page created on my hard drive that I use, but this
would work for a url as well.
Create a shortcut with the command line
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
"http://yourhome.com"
where C is the partition that you installed windows on and
http://yourhome.com is the url of your preferred home page.
After upgrading Internet Explorer I have had it override this, but
that normally only lasts one or two starts, after which it settles
back into going to my normal home page.
There should be a single space between .EXE" and the "url".
You should use the quotes, although they are only required if there is
a blank in either the pathname to Internet Explorer or in the url.
I hope that this helps. 8-).
