I'm making a program at work, using Visual C++ and MFC 4.0 It will get
info from a database and make lots of cool graphs and stuff to be
displayed or printed. We want it to be very customizible. We were
wondering if OLE would help us make it customizable or if it would be
too much trouble (as none of us have programmed OLE). Thanks much.

There are many reasons for using OLE (and not using OLE). One reason is to
separate functionality into reusable components (for example your graphing
engine could be an OLE component). Another reason is to allow VB users (or
other OLE-compatible languages) to programmatically control your
application or portions of your application (much like excel, word, vsio,
etc).
If none of you have any OLE experience and depending on your timeline, now
would be a good time to learn.
