There are many reasons for using OLE (and not using OLE). One reason is to
separate functionality into reusable components (for example your graphing
engine could be an OLE component). Another reason is to allow VB users (or
other OLE-compatible languages) to programmatically control your
application or portions of your application (much like excel, word, vsio,
etc).
If none of you have any OLE experience and depending on your timeline, now
would be a good time to learn.
