Reading raw data off the hard disk

Does anyone know of a way to read directly from the hard disk under NT? I
know you can open a disk using CreateFile and specifying the partition, or
the physical drive, but I can't figure out how to read raw data off of
there. I know it can be done under DOS... If anyone had any ideas about
this, or knew where I could go to find out how it's done in DOS, or where I
could find the NTFS spec, I would be very grateful.
