Hi.

Could any one be of any help ?

I need to access the HKEY_PERFORMANCE_DATA registry key on my system running
Win95.

The VC++ Online Help told me to do so thru the RegQueryValueEx function (as i
supposed myself). So did I. But the function keeps returning me a 1018 error
(eq. KEY DELETED error). And it does so with all Reg... function.

When I look at the Registry with REGEDIT.EXE the HKEY_PERFORMANCE_DATA does
not appear (I think it's normal since it is so on my other computer).

But even with this registry branch out, the SYSMON.EXE program continues to
return correct data...(I suppose it is nicely programmed with no backdoor
function...)

Does any one find this strange, Could somebody be of any help ?

Thks in advance

Are you sure that you're looking for the right key?

SYSMON and friends are looking at HKEY_DYN_DATA\StatData for the
various performance figures.

Or so it is said.

There was an excellent article describing how to retrieve performance
data in a recent issue of "Microsoft Systems Journal", if you have
access to that.
