How to print using API?

Hello,

I'm trying to learn to print simple line -graphics and
text using Windows API.

I want to use MM_LOMETRIC -mapping mode and of course
device indenpendence, so that I could do drawing using
metric -system and I wouldn't have to care about the type
of the printer.

I have one API Reference -book (Borland), which only
introduces the functions etc., but doesn't show how to
do printing in practise.

So could someone please send me an example of this or
tell me where I could find some public document about
printing. (or please recommend me some good Windows
programming book)
