I have faced this problem too, and simply used INP and OUTP, but
my gut tells me there must be a more elegant way. Also, I am
interested in portability into Win95 (but not NT).
This discussion comes up over and over, and in the process people
keep saying "Can someone please post some example boilerplate driver"
but one never seems to show up. I think a simple boilerplate driver
showing very crude access to IO ports (like the parallel port) would
be immensly useful to a lot of people, and it would be easily adapted
to other devices at different port addresses.
If anyone has this, we'd love to have it posted, put in an FTP archive,
or whatever.
Sigh. One can always hope.
