Win98 + DirectX + MCI

I've been scouring my MSDN kit and MS online for information about the
ActiveMovie components included with Windows 98. But I haven't found much.

Does anyone know the status of MCI? My company has an old application that
relies solely on MCI for multimedia playback (ugh...) and its breaking
under Win98 (especially with MPEG playback). ActiveMovie 1.0 included an
ActiveMovie MCI driver and I'm wondering whether that was just supplied as
a bridge to get everyone to move to native APIs or if it's still present in
Win98.

If anyone has any pointers or info, I'd greatly appreciate it!
