Most crossover cable that I bought is a reverse cable, therefore it is
not going to work.
Try to use 1 2 3 6 on one side and cross the wire as 2 1 6 3 on the
other end.
Next makesure, you install "MS client network", "computer browser" and
NetBui.
Good Luck.

If you are talking about Ethernet or Fast Ethernet, then a TP
crossover cable (RJ-45) looks like this:
TX+ 1 <-> 3 RX+
TX- 2 <-> 6 RX-
i.e.
TX+ 1 =======\ /= 1 TX+
TX- 2 =\ /==X== 2 TX-
RX+ 3 ==\=/==/ \= 3 RX+
4 - X - 4
5 - / \ - 5
RX- 6 =/ \===== 6 RX-
7 - - 7
8 - - 8

Since the original poster said that the only protocol they are using
in their normal LAN is TCP/IP, using NetBEUI for the LAN between the
two servers should work. On the other hand, a unique IP network
address for the LAN between the servers should also work (e.g.
192.9.200). Note that no gateway should be specified for the server
LAN.
