Hi!
I have seen this posted before, but I seem to have lost it!
How would one go about installing a new oem version of win95 over the
top of an earlier version of it. I recently upgraded my computer,
keeping my old HD. I have installed much software on this drive and
rather than doing it all again on my new HD I would like to just
upgrade the earlier verwion of windows.

Unfortunately the OEM cd will not let me do it, saying I need to use
an upgrade version of cd. I can't return it, don't want to shell out
for yet another version of 95 and definately do not want to lose all
of my original windows files.

From memory the post I saw was along the lines of: copying the win95
cab files etc to the hard drive, opening one of them up and extracting
and editing one of the files... (a .inf file perhaps)
If anyone knows how to do this please help!!

Thanks,
Ben.

Start 3.1 and close everything but ProgMan. RUN and enter path to
\Win95\Setup.exe (does not have to be on HD). Start the 95 install but
when License Agreement appears DO NOT answer. Alt-Tab and get ProgMan
on top and launch text editor, find C:\Wininst0.400\Setuppp.inf and add
OEMUP=1 after [data]
[data]
OEMUP=1

Save, minimize ProgMan and NOW answer License. Install thinks it is an
upgrade version.

Works for OSR2 over 95 also.
