After successfully installing W2K in a multiboot setup I can't boot NT4 on a
different partition any more. The normal blue screen becomes a BSOD with a
message about inaccessible boot device.

Files on the NT partition are accessible to programs on the W2K partition.
Booting is the problem. BOOT.INI looks OK.

I unwisely opted not to install SP4 on the NT partition before installing
W2K. I forgot that all my NT partitions are logical partitions within a
single extended partition. (I also have W95 in a separate physical partition
which is unaffected by all this.) I suspect W2K changed the NTFS throughout
the extended partition and the bootloader can't handle it. Moral: don't
install new OSs in logical partitions shared by production versions. Use
physical partitions.

Suggestions for getting out of this mess with minimum effort would be
appreciated.

Tom
