viewing URL's through the destop in msIE4.0

Anyone using msIE 4.0 beta 1? well...I've been attempting to load any
URL in the background (desktop) but all i get is msIE40 loading...I've
got the 'Active Desktop' selected..anyone have any ideas how to view
web pages through the desktop and avoid msIE40?

You have to get IE 4.0 AND Windows 9X. That's the only way it'll
supposedly do that, and I seriously doubt it really does a half-assed
job of it anyway. Not my opinion, just looking at the Microsoft history
books (ok, maybe it is my opinion, so sue me).

tried and got sick of it. use netscape. it at leasts works even if it
does crash occasionally.

MSIE 4.0 is still in preview stage (not even at the beta stage yet) as for
"avoiding msie 4.0" most of the browser components load at start up, that's
why msie 4.0 loads up 10 faster than msie 3.x. So it's no different if your
looking at the web in msie 4.0 windows explorer or on the desktop, i bet ms
will do away with the seperate browser pretty soon.

Right click the desktop, select properties, and select the desktop tab,
from there you can specify web pages to display on the desktop. You can
also delete the pages on the desktop.

You cannot, however, use the desktop as a browser, you must launch an
explorer window (does not have to be an ie window).
