OSR 2.1 (detroit), with some USB support, should be out by now.
I haven't heard an official or unofficial announcement.
Does anyone have the final version yet? What do the release notes say?

I found a recent news article and have one mail message.

The first said (a few weeks ago) OSR 2.1 was available to OEMs.

The other told me an OSR 2 -> 2.1 upgrade was available to OEMs,
but didn't know where to get it. (ftp.microsoft.com?)
Does that mean there will be no USB upgrade for Win 95 or 95a?

I work with a Computer Manufacture, and we are an OEM. I am not aware of a
OSR2.1.

We are currently receiving OSR2, and according to our
agreement with Microsoft, we are to receive the latest versions in
shipment.

I try to keep a close eye on these new versions, to make sure we are
installing the latest ones.

Can you please e-mail me a copy of the article you mentioned?

OSR 2.1 is still in beta (last I heard), and probably won't be available
until sometime in early 1997. And no, there will probably not be USB
support in any retail version of Win 95 until the Memphis upgrade, although
for the most part USB support is moot on legacy computers since only they
newest computers have USB. It will probably be several months after OSR
2.1 is out that you will start seeing a lot of hardware support
(peripherals, etc.) for USB.

At least two companies plan PCI cards to give USB to older systems,
should retail around $40.

USB supplement for OSR2 went gold October 28, 1996. The release notes
state that this is not an upgrade but rather a supplement that can be
distributed to end users, provided that the PC has USB devices, and is
equipped with OSR 2. I don't think there will be a USB upgrade for Win
95a.

There supposedly is a OSR2.1 with slightly new hardware support but
still not USB if I am correct. I think PC Week had article or
WinSources.

You might want to search the kb at www.microsoft.com for osr 2.1 and usb,
you might find your answer.

As far as Microsoft's Developer Network goes, that latest is OSR2 plus
the USB supplement, which has to be installed afterwards.

Are you saying that OSR2.1 doesn't exist. If so, check the following link from
the microsoft website:

http://www.microsoft.com/kb/articles/q158/8/68.htm

Or find it yourself by going to www.microsoft.com and searching for "OSR2.1"
