I am currently running the beta of Nashville, and everytime something
trys to open a DOS box, my whole computer freezes up! The only thing I
can think of is a possible conflict with my video card (worked under
Chicago okay), an Avance Logic 2301b. Can anyone tell me what is going
on here? Any help would be appreciated. Please mail me....

Thanks....

i think i know what the problem is.. first, remove the offending
"operating system" off your computer and try a real OS (and a real
processor for that matter). that should get rid of your problems
with your dos box.

no, really, try using a plain vanilla video driver like 16 color.
maybe try safe mode and do a dos box? try setting memory parameters
for the dos box's (or its pif)? maybe try a cheapie 256k video card
and use teh vanilla video driver (since you say it might be the
video subsystem).

you might also want to try loading teh BIOS defaults (after copying
down your current ones). or maybe increasing the wait state (if you
have a VLB video card).

i'd try reinstalling the whole OS if the above doesn't work and then
try again. maybe you'll discover that it's another perhiperal(sp?).

hope this helped..

oh, BTW, this is from a PC user-and-technician-turned-mac-user-and
evangelist.

cheers,
raman
