I already have win98 installed on my C: drive, and I just recieved my RC1
copy of win2k.... I need to know which options to select to make the
computer prompt me for which OS to run on bootup..... I havn't installed it
all the way through mainly because I don't want anything on my win98 drive
to get screwed up.... If anyone can guide me through the setup (make it
sound as easy as possible) then I would be happy...

1st question... Do I install it as an upgrade? Or do I install it as a Clean
install?

Please help fast.... thanks..

The right answer should be found in the CPP Newsgroups. Try the password you
got from MS.

I would install both OSes side by side. First 98 then W2K. W2K should
recognize automatically that 98 already exists.

But don't forget to backup...W2K is beta beta beta!

I have RC1 copy of Win2K Server and Win95 installed on the same machine.
You should select clean install of Win2K. After you install Win2K your boot menu won't
contain Win98 option. So you should edit file BOOT.INI and add line for Win98.
Here is my BOOT.INI:
PASTE<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
[boot loader]
timeout=30

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINNT

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect

C:\="Microsoft Windows"

One more thing:

If you install Windows 2000 as a clean install, install it into a separate
partition.

1. Install Win2K to a seperate local drive. it is not good to upgrade
because Win2K RC still have some bugs.

2. How to delete Win2K:
* delete the logic drive content.
* create a bootable floppy under Win98. And copy sys.com to the
floppy
* boot system from the floppy, and enter sys a: c:
