Hi
Just letting people know that when I installed upgraded to Win 98 Release
(3) from Win 95, my CD-ROM would start and stop sporadically. I have a
Compaq Deskpro 2000 5200MMX, 32 MB of RAM. The same problem occurred when I
installed NT Server 5.0 onto a clean partition.

Both the Win98 and the NT 5.0 Workstation appear to be working just fine on
fresh installs on clean systems in my lab.

Just thought someone should know.

Control Panel->System->Device Manager->CD-ROM->(The actual
CD-ROM)->Properties->Auto-Insert Notification (OFF).

You will lose autorun on CD's, both data and audio, but that is what causes
the sporadic accesses. I did it, and it went away.
