I run a large network of Windows 98 machines that utilises disk space on
three Unix servers through a program called visionfs. I am testing windows
2000 for its compatibility for our company and have run into an issue with
the login to the Unix machine. Under win98 the Unix login is you computer
name coupled with your networking login. Win98 automatically encrypted
passwords and this was overcome by running a registry patch to enable plain
text passwords. I have enabled plain text passwords in win2000 but to no
avail. Win2000 is still encrypting my login somehow. Can anyone tell me what
I'm missing here?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Owing to my isp's poor news service I am unable to see many reply's, could
you please email me personally with any information.
With Thanks.
