does registering with microsoft as a win 98 user allow you to d/l the
most recent win 98 releases, or can i only get the little updates...
drivers, etc? i'm wondering if it's worth the email and crap i'll get
from microsoft and other mfr's if i register my win 98.

thanks,
matty

Matty,

If you're a Consumer Preview or MSDN (that is you have Beta 3, build 1650)
user, then there are only the odd little patches - until recently that is.
The update page(s) now include a ton of IE4 updates and add-ins and OE
update as well as the few OS patches.

Why worry, On the registration, there's a little check-box where you can
indicate you don't want to receive anything from 'partners'. Either way,
I've never been 'bombed' with anything except stuff that was relevant to the
product I'd registered - like special upgrade price offers, that I'd not
have known about otherwise.
