I wonder if this beta 2 release is really reliable to use every day and
replace windows 98.

Are all the windows 98 drivers will work whith windows NT 5.0 like Mr bill
told us.

Yes Beta 2 is very good, all componants/drivers have been checked in. But I
would never run BETA software for my primary machine..enjoy!

I don't think so.
I installer the server version and it was not works good enoght.
The Microsoft Network is very very slow and weird things happens.
(disconnections, ...)
The file system is also problematic.

Does NT5b2 support D3D yet?

It's been stable enough for me. The only hardwre I can't get working is
my scanner, which comes with a pretty proprietary SCSI card though.
Photoshop 4.0 has crashed a few times, but other then that it has been rock
solid. Office 2000 Beta runs great.

Beta2 does support USB, DVD, IEEE1394 (Firewire), and yes Direct X 6 is in
there!

It does support USB without problems, not sure about DirectX 6 thought.

where can I get NT5? Can't seem to find it anywhere. Could someone please
direct me to it?

You need to join one of the various MS programs that entitle you to it
- the MS Beta Evaluation program and MSDN are two that I know of. You
have to pay for these (although if you become an MCSE you get a free
year's subscription to the former).

There are two ways to get the Windows 2000 beta:
(1) Sign up for the beta program. Unfortunately, the beta program is
full, so this suggestion is of little help.
(2) Get a subscription to MSDN Professional.

I've found NT5/Win2000 beta 2 to be more stable than Win98, but less stable
than NT4. That's not too surprising.

I've heard from more than one person that if you order the HCL on CDs it
comes with the beta. :-) People were surprised when they opened up that
package.
