MS does not recommend installing a beta over a beta. That said, it did
install just fine over 1577.

Yeah, gave me that error too... and I was running Win95, not a
beta...

Now, if I could just get my hands on the 1602 build! I'm still using
1546.

: I discovered a "Digital Audio" tab in the Multimedia Control Panel. Could
: that be your cd audio problem? If so, be sure to set the sound quality to
: what you want, as well.

I've been pulling my hair out in frustration over the CD audio
sound bug (err I mean 'issue' :). Reinstalling my SB AWE drivers improved
the computer audio, and restored the CD audio. I made a backup of the
system settings as soon as this happened. However, after about two
restarts, the CD audio went away again (it actually drops to a very low
volume - if you have amplified speakers and turn them up realy loud, you
can barely hear the CD audio). The thing that is stumping me is that from
the time I fixed it, to the time I restarted win98 twice, I didn't TOUCH
anything at all that was related to the audio drivers or the multimedia
devices at all.
I'm at a complete loss why this keeps hppening, and if anyone
found a soultion to the CD-audio problems, please post it! :)
