I'm running NT 4 right now, and I'm interested in buying the public beta
of Win98 when it comes out so I can experiment and play the odd dos game.
Could anybody comment on the stability of the current Win98 beta vs Win95?
What build version will the public beta be? Thanks.

You crazy, you actually want to BUY this heap of unstable junk from
Microsoft.....???
I thought you were an intelligent man?

All the betas have different problems, and true to microsoft form, the
builds get bigger, more buggy, and then of course they want the "official"
tester community to BUY it as well, so as to do their badly done R&D for
them!!!!!!!!!!! WHY?

Rule no 1 read the news groups, and go for a beta which supports the
modem/com ports properly....then
Rule 2 Instal Netscape communicator, and junk the active desktop, `cos it
crashes all the time.....
Rule3, only pay Microsoft for something they are actually prepared to
support in writing....otherwise you`re just getting used and abused! OK
Rule4, make sure you do a dual boot on seperate disks with your NT
installation....
Rule 5 the build number MS give you on a beta test program is at least 3-4
weeks out of date, and MS show a cynical disregard for both their customer
base and user bug reports in general.

Hope this answers your question
