I don't entertain evil thoughts.............they entertain me ;-]
IN ADVANCE: You need to get and install UltraEdit, any ver or similar Hex
Edit tool.A DISK SECTOR EDITOR WILL WORK TOO.
Step 1: Be sure you've done a Start Up disk and it's OK.
Step 2: Make a 2nd Start Up disk and check it to be OK too.
Step 3: Remove "Read-only" & "Hidden" attribs to IO.SYS file located into
root C:\ dir. (Apply)
Step 4: Open IO.SYS into your Hex Edit tool.
Step 5: Look for 000007f0 hex addr.
Step 6: Change lasts hex values from:
00000000000000000000 C1 28 0F 29 4D 53 (or any others herein)
to
00000000000000000000 42 28 00 00 4D 53
Step 7: Save this modified file. Just "Save" it . Don't "save as".
Step 8: Restore "Read-only" & "Hidden" attribs to modified and saved
IO.SYS file. (Apply)
Step 9: Repeat steps from "3" ahead for IO.SYS file located into 2nd Start
Up disk. Label it NOTIMELIMIT.
Step 10: Verify your work and enjoy it.
NOTE 1: If you get a "NON SYSTEM DISK..." or some like that, don't worry
about.
JUST: Insert your 1st and "original" Start Up disk. Wait for A:\ prompt.
In A:\ type the following sentence:
sys c:\ <Enter>
---Reboot your PC---
Now all will be OK but TIMELIMIT stays into.
So you need repeat this procedure from Step 1.
NOTE 2: Don't try to "copy" IO.SYS anyway. That doesn't work.
NOTE 3:
This trick is based upon "Appleseed" & "Badbri" work,
and posted here several weeks ago.
