Greetings, all
I've got a high end desktop that I've pretty much pieced together myself
over the last few months. An AMD K6-2 300 on a TYAN TRINITY MB with 192M
RAM. An adaptec 2940U/UW driving an ultrawide 9.2G HDD, a plextor 32x CD,
2/8G DAT and a 2.1G standard SCSI HDD. Another adaptec 7840 (I think)
controlling the TEAC CDR. Turtle Beach Malibu Sound Card and ATI 3D Rage
Pro. I can't think of any more particulars. Anyway, I've been attempting to
install Windows 2000 Pro beta 3. Everything appears to go well until it
reaches the screen that says "Setup is now starting Windows 2000". All
activity stops right there. I'm curious as to possible causes and solutions?
All responses are greatly appreciated.

I wish you all well

Took me about a week to install win2kb3. It hanged at "win2k is know
detecting your hardware".What I did, was replacing different pieces in my
computer, trying to find out what hardware it was
that caused the stop. My computer is a celeron300a pentium, and since my
friend with identical motherboard, memory and processor got win2k running on
his computer I knew those components could not be causing it. Finally I
copied the entire i386 folder onto my harddrive and disconnected my cd-roms,
and that solved the problem.
Hope that gives you some inspiration!

Hello Victor,
I had a problem with trying to install W2K B3 on a SCSI drive connected to a
Tecram 390 PCI controller.
When I cleaned up my primary drive enough to fit 2 OS's (Win98 & W2K B3) and
attempted to install on the
primary, active drive it installed with no problems.
I don't know if this is your problem, but it is worth a shot.
