Would there be a problem putting NTFS5 on a removable HD - used for
both backup, and DV editing? This is running under Windows 2000.

The drive is a Maxtor External 80GB firewire.

I was going to keep it FAT32, but I may need files sizes of more than
4GB.

For instance, if the system crashed, and I needed to reinstall the
OS, or retrieve files from the Hard Drive, from a different machine
altogether - would NTFS file permissions make this a problem?

Is NTFS okay to use for backup drives?

How could you mount the NTFS drive from another machine, and read the
files - without regard to NTFS security?

I am not sure how the permission bits are set under NT, and don't want
to be caught with impermissible files, if the original, creating
machine, could not retrieve them.

Thanks for any assistance.
