I just installed some software on my NT machine (win95 crosspost 'cuz answer
may be there too), and after installation, not only were my fonts screwed up, but
the caption buttons (minimize, maximize, close, question) on the window title
bars have been screwed up (they show folders instead).

Does anyone know how to restore them to the _, [] and X defaults? Email to me
and post to ng would be appreciated.

Andy: Something in the installation must have corrupted your Marlett.ttf
file. That's the file that creates the controls that are now damaged.
You'll have to re-install the file to fix this. Go to this site for a
detailed explanation of what to do:

If you need more help, feel free to e-mail me.

For those who are interested, George Wolff kindly gave me the answer:
winnt\fonts\marlett.ttf had gotten corrupted during the font install from
the @%$%! app. that I installed. The solution was to reinstall the marlett.ttf
font file (actually I just copied into the winnt\fonts directory and set the hidden
and system attributes, and then rebooted).
