Problems using ATAMAN TCP Remote Logon Services

Error code 5 means "access denied". Usually this means you have a
file/directory protection problem. Please check to make sure the
directory tree you above the executable files is searchable by the
System account and the user trying to login. Also make sure that the
executable files themselves can be read and executed by the System
account and the user trying to login.

your questions in this newsgroup, as I read news somewhat sporadically.

Oh, you said you have release 1.1 (not that in this instance do I think
it matters), but release 1.2 is the latest version of the TELNETD
and RLOGIND, you can find the latest version from Ataman's ftp site:

Hi there,

I've installed Ataman's TCP Remote Logon Services rel. 1.1 from cica. On my
system runs NT 3.1 Service pack II with TCP-protocol and ftp server from
MS.

The installation of telnetd and rlogind worked fine and they wrote on screen :

Install command succeeded. Start command succeeded.

Ataman services are also available in service control panel and running.

Remote login via telnet or rlogin from remote systems asks for password and
brings the message :

ERROR STARTING UP LOGIN. CONNECTION CLOSED.

or the command hangs.

The Remote system is UNIX ( HP ). In event log Ataman wrote the following :

ATAMAN Command State : event 6553 : OpenProcess = 5
ATAMAN Telnetd Server : event 6553 : Failed to login user malo : 1053

What is wrong ? I've set the privileg "log on as service" to the user and use

The only documentation I saw on it was a liscensing agreement..
