[System Type:] Compaq 450EN with NT 4.0
[Video Card:] ATI Rage Pro 2x
[Problem:] After installing a LITEON CD-ReWriter (ATAPI/E-IDE
Interface) the Compaq 450EN boots using a default video mode (in place
of it's usual hi-res mode) complaining that it cannot find the video
driver. Thought the person who installed the CD-ReWriter had deleted
the video drivers so I downloaded and executed SP6395.exe from the HP
"software and drivers" page, and rebooted the Compaq but got the same
results.

Had noticed all along (since install of the CD-ReWriter) seeing a
start up message about a service failing so looked in the event viewer
and saw something like this:

ET4000
\Device\Video2.Translated
Could not use memory at 0x28 & 0x2c len=0x30

ATI
\Device\Video0.Translated
Could not use memory at 0x28 & 0x2c len=0x30

Which looks like two devices trying and failing to use the same
memory. Suspect this to be the true cause of the video issue. Any
thoughts regarding this would be appreciated including ideas on how
the CD ReWriter might be reconfigured to use some other block of
memory.
