Win98 sys.com killed my WinNT IO.SYS & MSDOS.SYS

They are now 0 bytes ! *grrr*
I just restarted with a win98 boot diskette in the a: drive
and entered this command : sys d:
I was given som sort of errormsg, but ofcourse I did'nt
pay attention.....

So.... could anyone send me these NT files ?
Can I make the system bootable again ? ...
Could this do it ? : type email-io.sys >> c:\IO.SYS

Those are not NT files.

Since NT does not use either MSDOS.SYS, or IO.SYS, the answer is
'no'...
The boot files for NT, are the MBR itself, followed by NTDETECT.COM,
the text file BOOT.INI, NTLDR, and if you have an adapter that is not
supported by the standard INT13 handlers, NTBOOTDD.SYS.
I would suspect that it is the MBR that has been overwritten, and to
fix this, just boot from the install floppies, and select the option
to repair the boot, when offered.

Best Wishes

Unlike Windows 95 and 98, Windows NT is not DOS based. Therefore,
NT does not need or use IO.SYS and MSDOS.SYS. Here's what I have
on my C: drive (and I boot ONLY NT):

5/31/94 6:22a 0 RHSA_ io.sys
5/31/94 6:22a 0 RHSA_ msdos.sys

Don't worry about it.

Roger
