If you have Win95 installed on the same machine (dual boot) then run
it from there. I have used the built in Win95 defragger on VFAT
partitions used by both Win95 and NT 3.51 no problem.

I'd suggest doing a backup first though...

With Diskeeper WS now at $125.00, wouldn't it be safer to run it than
speed-disk? Plus Diskeeper is controlable - as to time and schedule.

Is it possible to "isolate" the defrag file(s?) from 95 , and just use
this utility standalone from NT 3.51 ? I have 95 on both CD and floppy,
but have never loaded it , and don't really want to , as I am happy with
NT , but need to defrag my all FAT system , but which uses long file and
directory naming....
TIA !

For its' size,"IF" can be a big word.

I did it with SpeedDisk from Norton Utilities 7.0 for DOS on the FAT system
of NT 3.50. Surprisingly it worked fine. No problems under NT later on.
Just did _not_ try it on NT 3.51, coz I use NTFS nowadays (like auditing
and compression :-)

There is a product available called Diskeeper by Executive
Software. Diskeeper allows you to defrag your Windows NT
workstation or server on the fly.
