Anyone know of software which will save/load the contents of the
clipboard to/from a file whenever the application is invoked?

I can think of severeal applications that could do this, but probably
not what you are thinking of.

For example, in Word (most any version) you can record a macro to run
on opening any new document. Since Word opens a new, blank document
when it is started, the macro would automatically run as soon as Word
loads. If the macro contains the command "paste from Clipboard," then
Word will automatically paste whatever is in the Clipboard to the new
document. You could add the command for "save as filename.doc," plus
"yes to overwrite" and it will save the new file to disk. Similar
things can be done in most applications that have a macro or script
language.
