How do I make NT recognize my ISDN adapter ? I plug in the new hardware, then
what ? Tell it to somehow scan and tell me if it sees something it knows
about? I've got an Intel remote Express ISDN Lan adapter for calling into our
lan and presumably, I can call into my NT workstation machine at work via RAS?

Anyone out there used ISDN with NT ?

Thanks

Kevin,
Do you know where I might find additional information on these ISDN boards?

Also, would you happen to be able to give me some sort of start to finish
scenario (ie, Phone company issues, ISDN cards, additional equip. & costs)
of what it truely takes to get ISDN running, as well as any on-going
additional charges which normally wouldn't be incurred with a POTs line?

Thanks in advance!

Unless something has changed recently with Intel, that board is not
supported in NT. The only ISDN Adapter board listed in the Hardware
Compatibility List for 3.5 is the Digi PCIMAC; this is as of 12/94, and
it may have changed.

I use RAS and a PCIMAC in my NT WS 3.5 box to call an NT S 3.5 box that
has a PCIMAC4, which works great for me. When you boot up after
installing a board, NTDETECT should see it and you should then be able to
see it in Control Panel->Network as an Installed Adapter Card.

I have a Motorola TA210 Terminal adapter. and it looks like a
modem! It runs from the serial port an even responds to the AT
command set. I had to cobble together a MODEM.INF entry, but
apart from that..reasonably plain sailing

Have you attempted to bond the 2 channels for a 128kb connect?
or use the second channel as a POTS line to a 28.8 modem ?

I have been waiting to find someone that has made it work before ordering
one for myself...

Here in Ohio MaBell is offering FREE instalation on ISDN lines for the
month of Aug and Sept!

We are using the Digiboard DataFire cards successfully with
NT also. This is a single isa card with built in NT-1. It
will talk 128Kb to other DataFires, but not other vendors
equip. I am using it for 64Kb internet access via NT RAS
with no trouble at all.

Also check out the ISC Securelink II card - in addition to
the features of the DataFire, it also has an analog RJ-11
jack to plug a phone into on it.
