When I start up NT4 I get a message 'loadwc.exe could not start' message
in Dr Watson. I didn't
get this message until recently so it must have come about after some
software changes.
I have re-installed SP3 but it still fails, whatever it is. I am not
keen to re-install NT from
scratch!

It seems to be an OS process (loadwc? someone's idea of a joke?!)
and I see it running on other NT4 machines. It doesn't
seem to do any harm in not running, but obviously this kind of thing
makes one
nervous. Does anyone know what it is for and how I could get it running
again?

loadwc.exe should be located in system32 and is started within the
registry. I disabled it month agos due noone seems to know what this tiny
thing is doing.
If you want to be on the safe side, check the corresponding registry-
entry and get a fresh copy of loadwc.exe from another computer.

"Loadwc.exe" is used to check the Web browser version, you can find the
command line that runs it in registry -> search for "loadwc.exe". This is
not necessary for NT (or 95) to work -> you can delete the line in the
registry (make a backup before!).
