Can anyone tell me where else to look?

Using regedt32, look in \\hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows
nt\currentversion\windows.
The items you're interested in are the load and run entries. Note, searching
the tbload won't work as nt regedt only searches for keys unlike 95's.

Never never never install new software without first backing up
winnt35\system32\config.
I had the sane problem with another peice of crappy software.
Your problem is in one of the files in the "config" directory.
Anyone else ??
Sammy
At least create a new repair disk (use rdisk.exe).

If you have some Idea of where in the win,ini file this was supposed
to have been, you can use the ini mappings to find out where the info
would be in the registry.
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\
IniFileMapping\win.ini (or system.ini)
For instance: in the win.ini key you will find that DestTop info is in
#USR:Control Panel\Desktop. So you goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\
Desktop and there it is.
BTW, there are a few registry search tools out there that would look for
a specific value (eg, C:\TBAV\TBLOAD.EXE). One example is regfind.exe.
You might find it at oak.oaklang.edu /SimTel/NT (or something like that).

You can search for a key but not for a value.

Is there an FAQ somewhere about what to do to protect and recover NT?
I've heard about the recovery disks and so on, but one never gets to
practice these things before they're needed. :-) I suppose it would be
nice to take a new NT installation and deliberately mess it up and
recover it a few times just to be sure I know how to do it.
