I just got a SounbBlaster 16 but can't get it to work with the NT 3.5 sounds.
(ie new mail, startup, shutdown,) The SB16 Apps work (CD,MIDI,WAV)

Any ideas?

PS
I got the new drivers from Creative Labs but they don't work at all. NO SOUND

You have to install the sound driver in the Control Panel. I forget exactly
how I did it, and I'm not sitting at that machine now, but it worked fine.
At some point I had to pick Install Unlisted/Updated Driver and point to the
directory where I unzipped sb16nt.exe after downloading it from
ftp.creaf.com.

I've got an SB Pro 16/MCD and mine works fine with NT 3.5. I just went into
Control Panel/Drivers and added the "SB Pro/SB 16" drivers.

If you've using NT 3.5, be sure to use the NT supplied drivers, and not
the ones from Creative Labs. They're for NT 3.1 only.

I got mine working fine with the drivers that came with nt 3.5; make
sure that there are no port address and IRQ conflicts and you should
have no problem.

Hi,
Various posters have suggested using the drivers supplied by NT.
Where are they? What are they called? I upgraded from 3.1 (where
I didn't have them installed) and I still don't, or so it tells me.

TIA

In Control Panel, hit the Add button, and choose the Sound Blaster driver.
Drivers are located on the Installation CD (or floppies).
This one driver works for SB 1.0, SB Pro., and SB16.

Hey. So you say that the apps are working but the system sounds are
not? Ok. Well, this is probably what is wrong. The .wav files NEED to
be in the c:\winnt35 directory...or the equivalent. Even if you specify
the other directories for the sounds, it won't work. I guess its a bug.

I keep all my .wav files in a separate directory (subdir of winnt35) and have
never had a problem. This works on three Pentiums and an Alpha.

Is there an NT3.5 compatible mixer for the SB16?
