If I move directories from one drive (or machine) to another, how can I
transfer their share names and permissions without having to re-enter
them?

John.

If you use Server Manager, highligh the machine the share is located on,
and select "Shared Directories" from the menu. You can then modify the
shares directly. If you have file permissions set on an NTFS volume, this
information will be lost if you copy the files using explorer. Instead use
something like 'scopy' from the resource kit, or some kind of backup
software.
