inserting escape char.

Please I need to know how to put an escape character in my
file so I can send specific control characters to the printer.
With vi you can put an escape character by Ctrl-v <esc-key> but
when you save you file all linefeeds are added with a carrige return.
Can someone infom me how to to this with notepad.

Can't remember if you can do it in notepad... but you can in EDIT.

In EDIT, use Ctrl-P-Ctrl-[ to enter escape.
