: I tried to play an audio-cd on NT. It doesn`t work.
: I tried to read a CDR on NT. It doesn`t work.
: I use a Mitsumi-CDRom (double speed) with it`s on IDE-card. I`m using the driver shipped
: with NT 3.51.
: And now my question: Am I too stupid, isn`t it possible or can someone help me?
You're experiencing bugs in the driver software.
We're all still waiting for an update to the Mitsumi
CD-ROM driver software that'll fix those exact problems,
myself included. :(

How odd!
I have a Gateway P5-120 system which I purchased in July. It has
a built-in 4x speed EIDE-based CD-ROM drive which I *assume* is a
Mitsumi. I cannot find the manufacturer anywhere in the docs
from Gateway, and I don't know if there is a way to find out
using some sort of interrogator for the EIDE bus.
This drive used to work. In fact, I installed NT from it. Now,
for some reason, it doesn't. When I select the drive in the
File Manager, I get an error dialog titled 'Error Selecting
Drive' which says 'Incorrect function.'
I have a "mitsumi" device listed in the Devices Control Panel
which is currently set as "disabled". I set it to "automatic"
and restarted NT, but this had no effect. I have since set it
back to "disabled".
Does anyone know for sure what drive ships in Gateway Pentium
boxes? Right now, I'm hoping it's a Mitsumi, because then the
above posting indicates that I'm experiencing a known bug, and
not an intermittant or a configuration conflict.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems with Gateway boxes?
