How do I set the "Comment" field for an NT 4 Workstation (SP3) that
appears in Network Neighborhood? Under Win9x I think there is an entry
field for it in the Network Properties dialog, but NT doesn't have that;
just Computer Name and Workgroup. I've looked through the registry and
have been unable to find where NT might store it. The Computer Name is
stored differently by NT and 9x, and the NT method doesn't appear to
have room for a Comment. Does anyone know how this can be done?

Thanks,
Michael

Go to Control Panel | Server. Enter your "Comment" in the "Description"
field.

No, NT machines do NOT post their "Comment" in the Network Neighbourhood
views, regardless of which mode you're viewing it in.

Subject : NT Server Descriptions

In order to see the descriptions for NT servers you have to set them in the
Server Manager.

From an administrative console:

1. Start ? Programs ? Administrative Tools (Common) ? Server Manager
2. Select the computer you wish to add a comment to.
3. Click Computer ? Properties
4. Type your description under the description field.

The next time you browse network neighborhood using view / details you will
see the description for your server(s)
