I'm getting a peculiar msg. when trying to retrieve files from our NT server
via FTP. It happens regardless of anonymous or authenticated logon, and I am
(almost) certain that all permissions are set up right. I do know that the
account I have set up for anon connections is valid, with the proper rights.
It has been working well until a month ago or so, when I started reading this:

200 PORT command successful
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for xxxxx
426 Connection closed; transfer aborted.
550 xxxxxxx: The parameter is incorrect.

I can set the mode to binary or ASCII manually, and only VERY occassionally
will that help me get a sucessful transfer. I actually do end up getting a
zero k copy of the file I requested. What gives? Any help is already
appreciated....

Did you install sp3? This upgrades your NT server to IIS ver 3.0
You have to set your permissions in IIS so it may pay to check there.
Also what parameters are you sending on the FTP get?
