I installed a basic WIN2K server and ran through the Active Directory
install with no problems. This is the only server on that network so there
was nothing to copy and no domains to convert. The server works great BUT
ever time I reboot, the system takes about 4 minutes while the box on the
screen says "Preparing Network Connections" and after 4 minutes the box goes
away and the login prompt appears.

Can someone tell me how to get rid of this most frustrating delay? Am I
doing something wrong? Thanks!

Try opening up the hosts file
(%systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) and adding a line for the
server's name and IP address per the instructions in the file. That
should kill the delay...

Try uninstalling SP1.
