Hello,
Are there any tools available that allow for migrating users from
a production NT server to what will become the new production NT server?
I'm most worried about moving the passwd?

TIA
MH

What role will the new server play? (PDC? BDC?) I am assuming the present
server is a Domain controller (PDC or BDC) right? What I'd do is bring the
new machine online as a BDC to the present Domain, after everything is
synchronized (spell that right?), take the old Domain controller offline.
If the old machine was a PDC, then using Server Manager, promote the new
machine to the PDC roll. Hope this helps!

You have to set the new Nt server as a Backup Domain controller (BDC), the
account database will be copied form old Nt server to new one. Then you have
to promote the BDC to Primary Domain Controller (in Server
Manager->Computer->Promote to Primary Domain Controller).

Then you can shut down the old Nt server without loosing your account
information.

You should try NTAccounts...

http://www.ntaccounts.com/eng/

This software will allow you to migrate users accounts quickly and
easily from any NT computer to another, keeping passwords, shares,
printers...etc...
Really usefull

if you are talking about moving the accounts from the local machine, you are
better off using the tools mentioned beloow. However, if you are moving
accounts from the PDC or a BDC to another DC, you dont have to do anything.
The account replication will take care of it all for you.
