I am after some urgent advice about a problem I am having successfully
installing the printer/scanner drivers for a new Brother 7160C Multi
Function Machine (fax/scanner/printer). I followed instructions :-
1) Machine is connected directly to NT4 SP3 LPT1: port. Machine is also
networked and a domain member.
2) Log in as local administrator - install drivers
3) relogin as administrator to complete setup. All systems work fine as
a local administrator ...

PROBLEM: when now logging in as a domain user on the machine 'Can't
connect' type errors keep appearing. Relogin as administrator again
and all is OK ?? Hardware and software setup must be right - but there
appears to be some sort of access/security problem for users ????

Any advice or experiance out there for this type of machine ????

Thanks in advance

Greg

I'm having almost exactly the same problem with a Model 7150. Brother
told me it wouldn't work as a network printer, but that it would work
with my worksation. It was working for a few days when I was logged in
as administrator, but yesterday when I left the Multi-link setup I
couldn't get back in even as administrator. have tried reinstallin
three times to no avail. It's now a standalone fax and copier. Brother
told me it would work in my situation before I bought it, but now there
saying my problem is internal to NT which their software people are not
prepared to support. I have another call into them and will pass along
whatever I learn. In the meantime, all should beware. NT 4.0 on the
box doesn't mean they'll help you make it work.

Please pass along anything you learn in the meantime. This whole thing
is causing problems with my other main printer as well.
